Diocese of Bahari

About the diocese

The Diocese of Bahari covers the coast from Mwavuli in the north to the Kisiwa islands, and inland as far as the Mlima Juu escarpment. It was erected in 1954 out of the territory of two older jurisdictions, and takes its name from the sea that borders it on three sides.

Its parishes are grouped into deaneries, each under a dean. The directory lists every parish in the diocese, whether or not that parish keeps a website here.

The chancery is at Bahari Town. Its offices, commissions and Caritas programmes are described elsewhere on this site.
